RAW series

I mentioned in this post that I wanted to come up with a series that was more like an abstract painting.

Here is the start of this concept. The RAW series consists of torn fabric and the display of “raw” edges. Each piece of the quilt painting is it’s own element. I stitch the background first and then the smaller pieces are added on top of the background with their own piece of batting, usually, and their own quilting.

I love the ease of textile painting. It’s a great way to warm up to creating my larger pieces. AND I will have smaller pieces to help fill an art booth! I think these pieces will be displayed within a mat. We’ll see!
